Friend

H.R.Powell

Sunlight through summer leaves

The air is hot and dry

Your beautiful blue eyes shine

And glitter like the pond behind our home

My head on your lap

You run your fingers through my hair

Placing delicate daisies among the curls

A gentle breeze disturbs our blanket

We are close

Our bodies are infinite

Melted into a tangle of love and sunshine

Soft cotton against our skin

Hidden from the world

We rest

  • Comment from author about the poem: This piece is deeply personal, it describes the love between two people in a dream scenario. It honestly is my personal fancy and how I wish I could be with the woman I love, my best friend.
