SOME ENGLISH SURNAMES ARE QUITE FUNNY ~ SOME ARE VULGAR ~ MANY REFER TO PROFESSIONS & SOME ARE CONTRADICTORY ! MR LONG IS ONLY 5 FOOT TALL & MR SHORT IS NEARLY 7 FOOT ! MR NICE IS NASTY ~ MR NASTIE IS VERY NICE !
TIS said in some cases ~ shrewd Nature has planned
That names with their calling agree
For TWINING the Tea Man ~ who lives in the Strand
would be WINING ~ deprived of his *T* !
BUT ~ I would like to emphasise
In fact ~ it oft seems otherwise !
WASSY LATE is always EARLY ~ ISSY EARLY always LATE
The Triplet Girls ~ Cool - Calm - Collected ~ are always in a STATE !
MY UNCLE Mr Serious was always playing PRANKS
Our Doctor Dr Wiseman ~ was thick as two short PLANKS
Miss Goodtimegirl (alas - alack) was always Prim & Proper
And young Buster Lawless ~ ended up a Copper !
SOME NAMES ~ reflect a Man*s Profession
My Cousin ~ Frank Collector ~ has a postage stamp Obsession !
Charlie Coffin ~ he was very Grave ~ now he*s an UNDERTAKER
When WICK & WAX got married they became - a FANCY CANDLE MAKER !
IT ALL all seems serendipity ~ One last case I must state
When ISA FAT married IMA THIN
Their KIDS were all ~ of average WEIGHT !
So ~ if you abhor your NAME ~ It is your Folks who you should BLAME !

SOMETIMES UNCLE STEVE ~ One can be penalised for just having the wrong name ! Friends of ours in Liverpool christened their Son JONAH and he never ever got picked for the Football Team ! Do you remember the Etertainer NOSMO KING ? H e found his NAME plastered on the wndows of Railway Carriages in every train in the UK ~ think about it !

There are so many - I had a friend called Richard Pitt - he always got quite angry when anyone called him Dick. and Mr Long is 5 feet tall. 😃
Very True Uncle MIKE ! Brian & I are quite lucky ! People sometimes write to BRIAN as *BRAIN* which he is ! Also they write to me as *ANGEL* which i am of course ! I knew a Man called Richard Spotter - they always called him PUDDING which was quite amusing !
