If You Knew

dominick beltran

If you knew my soul, would you be scared? If you knew how much blood I shed from painful infliction, would you cry for me? Don't you see there are things that nobody understands. A world where no eyes can see. Complete darkness to others. If you knew the insanity that dwells within me, would you be afraid? Never will you understand my losses, my wins, my endless nights, my sunless days, my suffering, or my darkness for that can never be known. If you knew the tears that I shed, would you be my friend then? Being alone could never be so cold. So tell me, if you knew these shivers of mine within the shadows would you warm me? If you knew everything about me, would you still say you know me?

  • Comment from author about the poem: Everybody has a story, we don't always know everything. Sometimes I wonder to myself if people knew everything about me would they still love me or be my friend. I guess I won't really know since they won't ever really know everything.

Nobody really knows us, there are always untold feelings within our bodies and minds.

Of course, this poem is about the idea of somebody knowing everything about you. Would they still say they knew you if they knew everything
