Our place in the Cosmos

Jeremy Leach

Just when politicians seem so omnipotent
The fluffed-out strutting peacocks of self-importance
Mother nature deals a blow with such indifference
And brings them to their knees in humbling acceptance

Just when people think we know it all
And our cleverness means nothing can control us
A silent, sweeping hand picks some to fall
And reminds us of our place within this cosmos
