Believers Betray?

orchidee

Tune: Rivaulx

('Father of heaven, whose love profound')

John 13 v.21

*******

At the Last Supper, Jesus did

Reveal betrayer, was not hid

Was Judas, he would do the deed

The devil planted evil seed

Jesus was troubled, He did know

Which of disciples would do so

For pieces of silver thirty

Enough price for Judas it be

Yet help us Lord, forgive where we

Betray, forget you for nought, see

Our love grows cold, desire does fade

Casual of sacrifice you made

Restore us, heal, and fervent flame

Kindle in hearts, the Spirit same

He be the one, us empowers

Gives us your blessings dew-showers

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. metre from a 'Thought for the Day' Bible verse. Some may be happy to betray Jesus for no pieces of silver, for free, let alone Judas' 30 pieces of silver. Yet I feel it means hostile betrayal, bitterness, traitorous, etc, not daily faults where we let Him down. There is forgiveness for such times.

Thanks Gold. You mean, in a questioning way - 'What blessings?' As I say to the TV - what comedy?
Or as exclamation - 'Wow, what blessings!'
