Discerning Distancing

orchidee

Tune: St Anne

('O God our help in ages past')

Partly based on Isaiah 65 v.5

*************

Stand not by me in person, be

A distance off from me (2 metres)

Though meaning it physically

Yet not spiritually

For 'tis for good of all concerned

We have guidance discerned

Put into practice, our part play

Longing for healing days

Not in sense, Come not near me for

I holier for sure

Than you are, do not me approach

Or I thus you reproach

Yet truth, there are favourites none

Impartial to each one

Is the Lord, and forgiven we

Are, if penitent, see

Nice one Orchidee.... I have started to imagine u playing that old Sting/Police song..." don't stand... don't stand.... don't stand so close to me ".

Did you notice i said playing it, not singing it.

Thanks Dusk. Phew, yes, who can bear my singing on top of everything else - even if there was no health crisis?! lol.

Good one Orchi and an important message, physical distancing NOT social distancing is the way to go and the way most people are when I go for my daily walk, all greet each other.

Thanks Andy. It can be painful moving away from people. We might say 'Have they got the plague then?' And the answer is 'Yes indeed - potentially'. I'm sure folk understand, as you say. WE may say 'move back from me' or THEY may say it to us, e.g. unintentionally getting near someone to find the end of a spaced-out queue in the shops. It's like a mine-field, going shopping at present..
