Tune: St Theodulph
('All glory, laud, and honour')
Matthew 21 v.4-16 parts
*********
Chorus
Tell in Zion the people
Your king comes to you all
Meek, riding on a donkey
Humble procession be
Disciples, donkey and colt
Did fetch, the did not bolt
Special mission to carry
The Saviour, lowly He - Chorus
A great crowd there did gather
In rejoicing did share
Spread their garments in the way
That Jesus passed that day - Chorus
Palm branches waved, and the road
With them they too bestowed
"Hosanna to David's son"
"Save now, Lord", holy one - Chorus
"Blessed He that comes in the name
Of the Lord", they proclaim
"Hosanna in the highest"
Then so their lips confessed - Chorus
The children in the temple
Joined in the praises all
From mouths of babes and sucklings
God perfect praises brings - Chorus
Ride on, and bring salvation
To each, every nation
Your cross before your crown borne
Then resurrection morn - Chorus

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 7.6.7.6 metre for the Verses and the Chorus. The original hymn celebrates its 1,200th anniversary this year - or approximately. A donkey/ass and her colt/foal. Jesus probably rode the donkey, not the foal.

Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold. If I had taken a donkey in 1066 instead of a horse, I may have arrived less quickly, and not have mucked it all up!.
A & B here Uncle Steve - Good Palm Sunday. Our Local Anglican Church always has a Donkey borrowed form the Beach - SUCH FUN ! But alas not this Year ! But have FAITH that all will be back to Normal by Palm Sundat 2021 ! AMEN. We love the Hymn & Ode - very fitting !
Bkessings to You & Your Praising Pooch !
Love in the Spirit A & B 💛💛💛💛💛
Thanks A&B. Poor donkey - in its stable, or in its field, but not forgotten. One said 'Keep your ass indoors these days'. Erm, but I don't think he meant a donkey!
ride on.... you are an asset sir....
Thanks Neville.
I meant a baby donkey...
Believer or not, we need your poems during these hard times, Orchi!
