The Torch I Hold For You

Edthepoet

Seeing your face
Standing at my door
Was the best damn sight
I ever saw

Hearing your voice
On my telephone
Is the best damn sound
I've ever known

I want this, I always did
I want you, I always do
Sure we can take the scenic route
But ain't you tired of hiding from our truth?

The flicker of the flame
That left you bemused
That light in the cave
That left you confused
Shone from the torch I hold for you.

Wiping your tears
When your heart was broke
Was the best I could do
To not leave you alone

Watching your dreams
Slowly coming true
That's the best damn picture
We ever drew

I want this, I always did
I want you, I always do
Sure we can drink till the sky turns blue
But ain't you tired of not lightning that fuse?

The flicker of the flame
That left you bemused
That light in the cave
That left you confused
Shone from the torch I hold for you.
