Solitary

AuburnScribbler

Thousands of millions yearn,

For their fire to burn once more,

But in order for their hearths to spark,

They need to retain their core,

Either it by reading or a hundred squats,

To refill their zealousness,

They must do it in the confines,

Of their own pleasantness,

Solitary, though in prisons,

Is known as punishment,

Now it can be called,

Some new-found nourishment,

So, don’t be foolish, to think you’re above

Both your sins and your crimes,

Thus, do us and yourself a favour,

Please remain inside.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Hi everyone, hope that everyone is still keeping well in this hard time. I know it's an obviousness at this time, but some people still need to be told the importance of self-isolation, so here is a poem I have written as a reminder to people saying that staying at home, is a vital thing to do to combat COVID19. Hope you enjoy, and please stay safe.

Being an 'old codger' I am inside nearly all the time but I do go out for for a two mile speed walk in the morning and am able to get food from the shops.

Hi Andy, thank you for the read, and glad to hear that you are keeping well in the madness.

I am trying to be as creative as possible in this hard time, more ways than one, so I will hopefully be posting more poetry here.

I live by a sconce, so I sometimes walk around there, and of course, getting the essentials from the shops afterwards, which to me includes a couple of bottles of something cheerful.

Again thanks for reading, and please stay safe.
