Tune: Aurelia
('The church's one foundation')
Hebrews 2 v.14-18
********
As we partake human frame
Of flesh and blood the same
So Christ did also share in
Our nature, yet no sin
Was found in Him, full divine
And full human, the line
Of David was Hs birth here
He did on earth appear
That through death He might destroy
The devil, each trick, ploy
Who had the power of death
To fright each trembling breath
Of humans while they living
Christ deliverance did bring
To those who through death's fear found
Were all their lifetime bound
For truly Christ the nature
Of angels took not sure
But took on nature human
For each child, woman, man
And so like us He was made
Trusting His Father, staid
So that He might be a priest
To greatest and to least
A merciful and faithful
High priest, He over all
In things to God pertaining
Our Saviour and our King
To make the reconciling
For sins of people, bring
Himself as the whole offering
And not lacking one thing
For in the life that He led
Suffered being tempted
He is able to help those
That are tempted, He knows
Lord, help us see you before
Us went, holy and pure
Our confidence, faith in you
Our eternal priest view
