Quarantine

Mary Kate

We are living our lives around Microsoft Teams,

Waiting for assignments to be posted,

Wishing it were our dreams

That this chaos was hosted

We miss our friends,

We miss our teachers.

Never thought we would say the words

“I miss school bleachers.”

It has been three weeks.

I’m already going insane

From each and every squeak

That escapes my brain.

Target runs,

Starbucks cups,

It’s all in crumbs.

I can’t even buy new makeups.

“Death by Quarantine

Will read the front page

If I don’t get to see my choir team

Upon that school stage.

I don’t miss school.

I don’t mind staying home.

But this time is cruel.

I can’t even roam.

Everything is canceled.

No more fun.

All I do is give homework answers

I still don’t have done.

I may never see some friends again.

And if that’s so,

It is that fate I will curse against

And let my tears flow.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This quarantine has really had an effect on me negatively. Don't even get me started on my grades. My friends just got back their papers I haven't even turned in.

  • ANGELA & BRIAN

HI MARY KATE - ANGELA HERE (I share this site with BRIAN - my Husband of 6 weeks !) Welcome to MPS it is a proactive site and operates by Reading & Commenting on each others Poetry. Please check our Site thanks ! Thnaks for your first Poem - very well written with lots of Rhyme & Rhythm - but a sad Subject - LOCKDOWN. We*re only Young and I guess the Younger you are the tougher LOCKDOWN is. This is expressed in your excellent Poem. Some Seniors (like my Grandmama) were virtualy in LOCKDOWN before COVID 19 ! I know President Donald wants to get US Industry back on the Road again and the Teens back to School ! What State are you in Lockdown is easier in California (Big Sur & Nice Climate) than Iowa(Cloudy). Thanks for sharing - more Poems Please. Im out @ work cos Im a Hospital Physiotherpist but Brian (Science Lecturer) is at Home as a House Husband ! Hes a good Cook - Clothes Washer - Ironer & Gardener !

Blessings & Peace & Joy to You & Yours
    Yours Angela & Brian πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
