Be-Attitudes To Be

Tune: St Hugh

('Lord, teach us how to pray aright')

Luke 6 v.27-25

*********

The rules of kingdom life Jesus

Did explain clear ot us

His Sermon on the Mount He spoke

And our spirits awoke

Some of these rules were so to do

What you want men to you

To do, do unto them also

Then they God's presence know

Jesus said, If you only love

Those in your own encove

What credit is it, what do you

Do more than sinners do?

For they can love, but they love those

Who love them, pick and choose

And if you only do good to

Those who do good to you

What credit more is that to you?

For even sinners do

Do good to those who good them do

Herein is nothing new

And if you lend to those you hope

To be paid back and cope

If lending only unto such

Shall not be reward much

For sinners do to sinners lend

And do seek to amend

To be repaid to full amount

Each penny they will count

But love your enemies, not sole[ly]

Your friends, but do love whole

Do good, and lend, not hoping for

To be repaid full sure

So n these things you then shall be

Children of [the] Highest, see

God as your Father, you His sons

and daughters, holy ones

For He is kind to unthankful

As well as to grateful

And kind to those who evil be

And those good constantly
