Waiting for it to begin...

WildMoonChild

Waiting, aching, my whole bodies shaking.

My veins are on fire, I’m burdened by desire.

The blood is pulsing through my veins, electric feelings shutting down the mains.

Eye contact, a grin, you open your arms and pull me in.

I’m waiting for it to begin.

I’m tired, of running from emotion, I’m ready to hand you my devotion.

Your lips are pursed, you’re leaning in.

I’m waiting for it to begin.

Your warm breathe bounces off my cold cheek, my muscles tingle, my knees go weak.

Our fingers interlock, reunited at last, I sharpen my breathing and stare down at the grass.

I can still feel your eyes, scorching through my skin.

I’m waiting for it to begin.

Your loose hand pulls up my chin, all whilst I’m still waiting for it to begin.

And it does, I lean forwards, captured by passion, and kiss you in an un lady like fashion.

I don’t care who’s around, I don’t care who see’s, when I kiss you, my time zone will freeze.

The pressures building up, the fuse is ready to go, like fireworks ready to put on a show.

I open my eyes, to take in your face, and enjoy this moment of being in your embrace.

But you’re no longer here, this was my fear, instead burning my cheek is one single tear.

I look to the sky, and focus my gaze on the clouds, and wish I still had you here, I wish you were still around.

My hand still tingles from your touch, but now there nothing there to clutch.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Not based on anything I’ve ever been through, just a poem about a woman struggling with the loss of her other half. Purely fiction.
