Kathleen.

Goldfinch60

I was drowning,

Drowning in the beauty,

The beauty of her voice.

I had treated myself,

Treated myself to an evening,

An evening of her singing,

Singing just for me.

Such a wonderful voice

That fills me with glory,

Glory at its beauty.

That voice has been with me,

Been with me forever,

And will be when I leave,

Leave this earth.

She will be there,

Kathleen will be there,

Singing to me,

Singing just for me.

  • Comment from author about the poem: In music I like so much of it that I have few favourites either people or compositions but Kathleen Ferrier is the one that stands out for me above all others no matter what genre of music, every time I hear her voice I stop what I am doing and have to listen.

Hope she drowns out my singing then. I've made CD's ya know. Could spend an evening listening to me. it would be torture though! lol.

      • Goldfinch60

Send me the Cd then and i will listen, I listen to all types of music only some I listen to from hundreds of miles away. LOL.

It's good to indulge in a well chosen pleasure now and again. I envy you your music. Living semi-detached with an amazingly sound transparent party wall my listening volume has to stay too low to really appreciate the vibe.

I reckon if i had a parrot, by now it would be mimicking my neighbors regularly auditioned phrases.

Thank you d a, I also live in a semi but the walls must be quite thick as my neighbours, super people have two young kids, one three and the other about eight months, don'r hear them much at all. In fact when mother and baby came home from hospital I was expecting to hear the baby crying but I have never heard him through the night. at all even to this day.
When I set up a new system I did check with them on the sound levels and the level that I am happy with they cannot hear. I am very fortunate.

A voice to delight in and spend time with as your verse advocates Andy - - I can feel the thrill your evening with Kathleen must have given you.
