Autumn
I love the autumn's mired hues
Bright red maples and yellows too.
The gold of some, and orange bright
Are wondrous on the mountain heights.
I love the crisp cool autumn days
And mornings filled with soft gray haze.
To take a walk along some trail
I see new colors o'er hill and dell.
Autumn is a special time
It comes before winter's chilling whine.
That's why I love the autumn so
As coats and sweaters on must go.
But the best Autumn of them all
Is my lovely daughter Autumn DuBois.
She's all grown up with children now
But her name always reminds me of how...
She came into my life one day
My firstborn child, a golden ray.
Just like the days, the season brings
She makes my heart with joy-bells ring.

Beautiful Jubshaw, such wonderful words about my favourite season. Nature's artwork certainly does gives us such wonderful images in autumn, as do your words.

My daughter was born on the first day of autumn, and we considered it for her name, but did not use it after all. I'm glad you decided to name yours that. It was a sweet reminder of my daughter's birth. Having a name like that is like not having a name at all. You don't have an arbitrary appellation, a mere name... you ARE something! It must be lovely to be called something like that, like autumn. No more Tom, Dick, and Harry... only Wind, Rain, and Fire! And thank you for inventing something we all need... joy-bells!
