I walked through the wood
Looking at all around me,
The glory of nature so wondrous.
The deeper into the wood I go,
Where the trees are getting older.
Then I see it,
I see this gnarled trunk,
Lichen and moss covering it.
I stand there listening,
Waiting to hear the stories,
The stories it could tell.
My imagination runs riot,
But the secrets the tree knows
Stay within its body,
Leaving me wondering in my thoughts,
And wandering further into the wood.

Good write Gold. Yes, I wandered into the woods to get into the shade from the heat. Hope we can do so again this year, several times!
Some trees can be as markers through the woods.
Thanks Orchi, unfortunately there are not many trees on a croquet lawn so I have to stand around in the heat.

There is something about trees, especially in woodland, they have a majestic presence.
It is easy to enter contemplative mood among them. A t such a time, wrap your arms around the trunk of a tree and relax.
Something will enter your mind.
Thanks d a, yes there is certainly something about trees. I certainly find it relaxing walking amongst them.
