Duet.
I shall remember
that silver-sheened treble of streamside
songbird trilling
and coupled with pebbly ripples might
scribe the meeting
in darkling-deep shadow such melodious
music then describe
the creamy white pinned-to-sky myriads
of starry-eyed
listeners set on winking stellar applause
for tuneful concord
as liquid joins bird in dulcet duet under
night's welcome cover.
When words mean
no more and my sentences stand aside
in haunting respect,
pen has to cease as moon, head in mist
of cloudlets peeps out
on vision of one nightingale's drenching
of resounding air
with water-lap choral song while awed
I must try to share.

Again those silken threads woven to delifght.. but wait.... what other light between the craftwork shines?... Tis the wonder thrown forth by the very presence of moonlight's peeping.... for what brings the damsel Fay to woodland this fair night..... when shawl of darkness covers true intent and blush, no more required, yields to pagan lust..... Nay poet Dusk... away with such thoughts. Tis the beauty of nightingales song attracts M'lady heineken.
You at your best again with natures gifts.
Bless you D.A. - your eloquent comments are poetry themselves and much appreciated - - -- - yielding to pagan lust eh ? - - your fancy has all sorts of guises for this ordinary lady and a big thank you today for the welcome smile.
A fine write Fay. I was gonna do a duet with a bird, but it flew off. Doh! Well, it knew what my singing was like. lol.
Sounds spectacular Fay and reads remarkable..
a duet crying out to be shared....
Thanking you humbly Nev -- - wanted to get the feel of the scene set in lines though imagined would be if real a treasured dream could I get near a nightingale alongside a stream........ x
we have nightingales here.. and in Bulgaria... I often listen to them and funnily enough.. there is a stream in both locations although for the most part inaudible... x
I have never to my knowledge heard a nightingale Nev. - - one was heard in Mullion near the Lizard about three years ago but they breed more up-country in the south-east I believe - they have such a stringent song and wonderfully melodic rolls. Great that you have them near you............... x
I think there may be more of them than folk imagine... or maybe we are just like you say, very lucky... x
Wonderful words Fay, listening to Natures Chorus by a stream at dusk always brings glory within us.
Andy
