Tune: Tallis' Evening Hymn
('All praise to thee, my God, this night')
*********
Though virtual communion here
We celebrate your presence dear
We your sons, daughters by your grace
Nothing shall this sure truth efface
Though many, one body we be
Body of Christ the church is, see
Still living witnessing, so we
The church in society be
Of heavenly food, bread and wine
We virtual partake, gifts divine
Church shall not cease, you Lord us feed
Your presence with us still indeed
'Til time we may meet in person
Share Communion with each one
Strengthen us, with your Spirit guide
Fill us, within our hearts reside

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. metre for today, Corpus Christi 'The Body of Christ'. An event celebrated in some churches on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday (which was last Sunday), in thanksgiving for Holy Communion.

Good one Orchi, but is he really there?
Thanks Gold. Well, yes, though as I say, I could go on merrily writing poems just as 'formalities' or 'traditional belief'. I stop at times to ask if I really believe it. Going into some churches - 'Cooeee, is anyone there? Yes, but we're all asleep in the sermon'. Doh! Sometimes I wonder if God goes back to bed on Sunday mornings, instead of listening to dronings-on from some places.
I wouldn't be surprised, some of the preachers I have heard in the passed could bore for England!
Andy
It can't be helped, but in one place there were frequent 'Happy Birthday's sung for people reaching age 90 or more! Poor them, they get a blasting of rather severe themes sermons for a good 30 mins each week.
