Practical People

Tune: St Bees

('Hark my soul, it is the Lord')

1 Thessalonians 5 v.12-24

**********

Know them which work among you

Who do in the Lord teach true

Such leaders esteem highly

In love, for work's sake, so be

Among yourselves be at peace

Let conflicts and strivings cease

Warn them that are unruly

Comfort feeble-minded, see

Support the weak, patient be

Unto all people freely

Give not evil in return

For evil, but good do learn

When to rejoice? Evermore

How to pray? unceasing sure

When to give thanks? In all things

That God's will in Christ you brings

Tend the Spirit? Him not quench

Prophesyings? Them not french

Nor despise them, all things prove

In you life nearer Christ move

Hold fast that which is good though

No form of evil do know

The God of peace sanctify

You wholly, for He be nigh

Body, soul, and spirit be

Preserved blameless, made worthy

'Til the coming of the Lord

Faithful, calls us by His word

There must be an awful lot of people who died waiting for the lord who just didn't arrive. Will you be among them?

      • orchidee

Thanks dusk. They've gone straight to Him I expect, not needing to wait until His return! Meanwhile - I been waiting longer for the No.7 bus!

        • dusk arising

Well just like those number 7 buses you mention, you'll probably get three come along all at once.... after all, you do believe in the holy trinity.

I like this.. reads a bit kinda like 'Common People' by Pulp... 🙂

Thanks Neville. Are we among the 'common people' or are we higher class? lol.
Makes sense though. I mean, some say of some churches: 'What DO they do in there - in those churches? What they up to? We never see 'em'
