Waiting at the Tip.

Goldfinch60

Well more gardening had been done,

Bushes stripped,

Battle with the pyracantha won, just.

So off to the tip I went

To dump all the twigs and leaves.

I knew I would need to queue

In these strange times,

When the tip seems to be home,

Home for so many.

Not to worry I had my music,

My music in the car,

I could listen with joy.

Joined the long queue,

Started waiting,

Eventually got to the tip.

And how long did it take me?

It took me the whole of Act One,

Act One of Tosca.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Everybody seems to go to the tip in these days of lockdown so I knew I would have to wait but I just listen to music while I am waiting. The waiting was timed so well yesterday. I haven't put the whole of Act 1 on the video.

Bin there (excuse the pun) done that and worn the tee shirt out... spot on sir Andy.. I sat through a whole Dylan album while waiting in the queue .. I would have turned around if I could have maneuverered the car 🙂

    • Goldfinch60

I could have turned round but the rubbish had to be dumped. I got some wonderful quizzical looks as Tosca was blaring from my car - windows open of course.

        Thanks Orchi.
        Time is a variable concept.

      • ANGELA & BRIAN

BRIAN HERE ~ Good July Uncle ANDY ! Angela & I love Opera and queing in a CAR is an excellent way to share it with the Hoi Poloi ! You probably remember long gone (preplastic) days (our Grandparents speak about) when rubbish was burned in a Garden Incinerator and the ash used for fertilizer. Tips are like shrines where we (or the Bin Men) take our weekly oblations. Queues seem to be de rigeur at the moment and more from Independence Day onwards (except alas in Leicester !). We live close enough to London to enjoy the *Classics* when the lights go on again. We generally go by Coach ~ as cheap as driving & parking or train ! Please check *ANGELA ~ MY WIFE* Thanks !

Blessings & Peace to You & Yours
        Love Brian & Angela 💛💛💛💛💛

Oooh - and there is plenty prunings waiting in the shed for just that journey here Andy -- and shall take up your suggestion my friend.

        • Goldfinch60

We all have those prunings Fay, what to do with them when we can no longer get ion the shed forces the issue to go to the tip.

Just get some Rick Braun to play in your car, the time will fly.

When we don't fret, we do find ways of amusing ourselves and time becomes irrelevant

              • Goldfinch60

                Very true Suresh, very true.
