a little love song

dusk arising

i tried to leave you,
           but it couldnt be done
i tried to leave you,
           but i never got home
can't ever leave you,
           look what you've done
i tried to leave you
           but these legs wouldn't run

i tried not to love you
             like i just didn't care
i tried not to love you
             but you're everywhere
built up my fences
fell in your river and drowned
i tried not to love you
but you pulled it all down

i tried not to tell you
              looked the other way
i tried not to tell you
till it was all i could say
thought i heard voices
              when i finally heard
i tried not to tell you
               my three little words

i tried to hold back tears
               i looked in your eyes
i tried to hold back tears
               but there's no disguise
my heart stopped beating
               shook in my shoes
i couldn't hold back tears
               hearing "i love you too"

this is so cool.. and of course that final "I love you too" is what we all want to hear and sums everything else up perfectly.. I guess you could call that a wrap....

Just a little ditty which wrote itself after the first two lines came to mind.

BRIAN HERE ~ Good Evening *DA* thanks for sharing a great Video. My style of Guitar Playing *Finger pickin* good !* We love your Poems ~ especially when you are in Romantic mood !
I reached the age of 33 without having been engaged or married (or a Father) despite having many Female friends ! In some ways I considered myself a Professional Batchelor and I enjoyed the freedom & privacy of my own Flat ! But then I met ANGELA (over three years ago) and I was hooked ! I experienced all the restraing factors of True love which you mention in your Love Ballad. We got married three Months ago - and *Its growing stronger - warmer - wilder every day !* It must be love !

        Thanks for sharing ~
        Love - Peace & Joy
        Yours - Brian & Angela !

All your prior loves brought you to the point where you were able to value the virtues of your partner and enjoin for the adventure of marriage.

          Enjoy!

Thanks PB.Just another silly love song as somebody famous in their day described such ditties.

An engaging read D.A. Despite what we make up our minds to do Love has its way of proving that hearts cannot be controlled once Love comes along - a song to highlight first class rhyming too.

This just fell out of my fingertips after the first line came to mind. It was inspired by the final scene of the film A Mountain Between Us. A scene which demonstrates exactly the point you make.

Wonderful loving write d a, with the final line saying everything any of us need to hear.

I'm going to have to befriend a parrot and teach it to say those important words.
