Stoicism Acrostic.

Goldfinch60

Showing ethics to all around,

Taking life as it comes.

Offering help to everyone

In both good and bad times,

Creating a uniformity of living

In a moral way that is free from anger,

Showing love for all,

Making life so wonderful in our world.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I was in conversation with a friend a couple of days ago, we often have serious conversations about life and at the end he said that he believes that I am a stoic, that threw me I have been called many things but never that, so I wrote this for him.

Are you Greek? I see that's where Stoicism started.
Were you stoic, bearing with me in 1066, when I mucked it all up?! lol.
An excellent self-description there, if I may say so myself!

    • Goldfinch60

Yes it started with the Greeks but has moved everywhere now and according to my friend has descended on me!

      Well chosen words.

..and here i reproduce "It would be hard to find a word that dealt a greater injustice at the hands of the English language than “Stoic.” In its rightful place, Stoicism is a tool in the pursuit of self-mastery, perseverance, and wisdom: something one uses to live a great life, rather than some esoteric field of academic inquiry".

      I'll go for that 100%

Yes that is a good description of it so I must have fooled my friend somehow.

a fine devotion in any book or language Andy...

I used to support Stoic City when I were a lad.. aye back in the day when the late great Gordon banks used to be their goalie....
