Joyful Journeyings

Tune: Lasst uns Erfreuen

('All creatures of our God and King')

***********

Take country lanes, with nature share

And of the land, creatures, take care

Alleluia, Alleluia!

What may you see today, old, new?

It be of God's creation true

Panoramic sights we may view

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Horses in fields take food and rest

Some drink at river, they are blest

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Then scurry back to join the clan

Finding there comfort as they can

Their stables overseen by man

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

River flows gentle, peace remains

Our souls true benefits each gains

Alleluia, alleluia!

Time to stroll by, ducks, swans may see

And geese, all swim elegantly

Here their habitation daily

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Exploring tracks and paths and lanes

New routes and journeys are our gains

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Or old familiar ways we go

Keeping to well-worn walks we know

They all glories of nature show

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8.8. metre with Alleluias. I saw these things recently, including a swan with 10 cygnets! One walk involves crossing a bridge at a Ford, then walking by the corner of a field (permitted path) with horses often in it - bit scary? Another walk has a permitted path through a cows field, not fenced off.

Walking with nature is so wonderful.

I wasn't offered tea and cake!!

Thanks Gold. It's me being quaint. On Worzel Gummidge a cup of tea and slice of cake seemed to solve everything! Unsub was having bad-hair days - fictional ones, thankfully.
