Gold to Gray

MelissaJA

I am just a moment

And that moment fades away

When the newness wears off

And my gold

Fades to gray.

No more than a brief thought

That flutters through the mind

So quickly forgotten

And so swiftly

Left behind.

My memory not worth much

Is foggy at best

You remember I existed

But have you forgotten

The rest?

Like the feelings I gave you

When we first spoke

Goodnights every evening

Good mornings

When we woke?

The glimmer that shined

From the sunshine in my eyes

When I whispered your name

Through muffled

Soft sighs.

That seems only yesterday

And yet here we are

I wave goodbye

because you drifted so far;

you don’t even see

That I want you to stay

I pushed too much

With the feelings

That I couldn’t keep at bay.

But it was only a moment

And I no longer glitter

The shine is all gone

The life in me dimmer,

I am only a moment

And that moment fades away

When the newness wears off

And my gold

Turns to gray.

Beautifully penned - albeit sad still a joy to read. I see you arealso a fellow artist - why not include an image with your postings - I would love to see them.

If I had a piece that would work with a poem I would consider it, but I have an art page where I share painting on my facebook account.... My writing are a different art altogether

Well I always pop a work with my postings here and don't worry if they go together - today's postings are certainly not really compatible but it doesn't worry me.
