Letter to God

mik@el

Rest thy hand on me and soften my heart.
Startle my ego
and transcend me to the realm of doubt.
Liberate me from the prison of certitude and conjecture,
Give me the perseverance to unravel thy nature.
As thee delays judgment, till the day I die,
Allow me to ponder, may I discover who thou art.

Well god sure aint the one that man created in christianity so don't waste your time looking there. All that stuff was man made along with the torture man inflicted upon man if he refused to believe. It was created to fear mankind into doing what they were told so that they could be controlled. Don't be a pawn in that religious game. Free your mind.

Those that come to GOD ~ must believe that HE exists ~ and
that He is a rewarder of all those that sincerely seek for HIM !
    HEBREWS 11 v 6

Angela here - Good Evening MIK@EL welcome to MPS ! Love Chicago especially the Waterfront ! I thought it was the Ocean first time I visited - til Brian (My Husband of four Months) made me taste it to prove it wasnt SALTY ! Im 32 and work as a PHYSIO so all my Clients (so far) are ORTHOPEDIC & NOT COVID19. Are you dealing with COVID19 Patients?
Thanks for your first Poem I enjoyed your desire to be more acquainted with our Creator ~ GOD. Perhaps in essence it is a Journey we are all on throughout LIFE ! The verse I quoted at the start of my comment indicates that *Knowing God* is basically a matter of Faith ! My PAPA is Spanish and I was raised a devout Catholic so I have always *Believed in God* but as a TEEN I has to make a personal decision to really trust in GOD as an *individual* not just as a member of a Christian Family & a Christian (Catholic) Church. Brian is a Deacon in an Evangelical Church so when we got married I transferred my Church Membership from Catholic to Evangelical. My Priest & Parents were happy about that bcause they believed that a Husband & Wife should (if possible) be Members of the Same Church. God is the same but as an Evangelical (and married to a Deacon !) I feel I have come to know God better every day. Brian & I pray & study the Bible each morning before we start work ! Brian is the Head of Applied Science in a College. Our experience - both being Scientists - is that our knowledge of the Biological Sciences makes A Creator God more real ~ necessary & wonderful ~ AMEN ! MPS is an awesme Poetry site with a wide range of Nationalies & Beliefs ! Please check our site Thanks A & B !

Blessings & Peace to You & Yours
Love in the Spirit ANGELA & BRIAN !

God is your own God, do not get sucked into the fantasies of organised religions, I was and was in fact a Chaplain at one time but due to circumstances I renounced christianity and a great weight was lifted from me, I can now see My Spirit who is always with me.

    Welcome to MPS.

This poem is not about religion, its about human exploration and understanding of the divine. People these days both theists or atheists speak about the concept of god in certainty.
Here the poet is pleading to delay conclusion, until substantial reason or evidence is found.

I enjoyed this piece. Clearly you should right more seeing as how so many people had read your poem (haha). I encourage you. I realized what it was about. In knowing what goes on in this world; knowing the truth is probably the most important thing. Still, searching for the truth is how you grow deeper in your faith. In the end, there is only one truth, and that is what is right.
The easiest thing to do is just pray, and ask God for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, and to guide you to the truth.
With that being said: I hope that you continue to come on this site, and keep writing. This site is helpful in many ways. Again, this is a great piece.
    Salvation is free.
    Persistence is key

I adore that the speaker seeks to move from certainty to doubt, so counter-intuitive and unexpected. We usually encounter one in doubt seeking answers, certainty, or proof. As Socrates observed, true wisdom lies in knowing that you know nothing. I respect everyone's honest inquiry, whatever they currently think they have discovered. Interestingly you did not capitalize pronoun references to god. And the use of the archaic thy and thee is very clever, creating an air of traditional faith combined with the very candid appeal to openness and seeking. Once you think you know it all, you become stagnant. Thanks for an interesting little poem!
