Patrol.

Fay Slimm.

Patrol.

Elderly faces wet as brown pebbles

parade local streets,

pacing patiently, come wind or rain

toward flat beaches

jackets held tightly to capped heads,

wellied legs leading pets

struggle to see that walks be taken.

Backs bent, bags ready,

to be disposed in appropriate bins.

Others passing en route

exchange nods through the drizzle.

Bedraggled but usually

dog-loving wags  know that despite

weather, taking air

daily with canines tends to provide

chances for sharing.

Normal life with four-pawed friends

highlights people prone

to like causes for outings,  instead

of staying at home.

Hail to the army of all-weather folk

facing the dog yarns of owner-patrol.

Oh that we had such disciplined dog owners hereabouts for the unattended small waste piles and even half hearted abandoned filled doggy bags litter the streets, play areas and even the footbridges.

    • Fay Slimm.

Yes not all dog-owners use the same discipline when out walking dogs D.A. - -- thanks anyway for reading about the ones I know who do care to dispose of the waste.

There are loads of dog owners in our village and thankfully they are all very responsible when it comes to walking them. This is a bit of a departure from your usual writes and I love it.

      • Fay Slimm.

Ah - thanks for dropping by Michael - the subject is one I thought needed an airing as responsible dog-owners need tribute for dealing with waste in the proper way.

        Good write Fay.

      • ANGELA & BRIAN

BRIAN HERE ~ Good Evening Fay ! Love the picture with the Brolly over the DOG & not His Master ! I have never had a DOG my Parents always had CATS and now Angela & I have SMOKEY CAT! Essex is drier than Cornwall but on wet says I see Seniors doing their constutional with their grateful Pets. In my experience Dog Owners have a deeper bond than Cat Owners ~ Cats are much more independent and dont need WALKIES ! Angela loves DOGS (she loves SMOKEY too !) and I have promised Her when we have a BABY - and shes on Maternity Leave - I will get her a Golden Lab Puppy ! Smokey is good with DOGS ~ He ignores THEM !

        Blessings & Peace & Joy & Love

Yes I agree Brian that dog owners have closer bonds usually with their pets who often provide the elderly with reasons for outings and meeting other folk doing the same.

Michael has already said it for me but despite this slight deviation, from some of your more usual topics, of which there are indeed many, I think this post clearly demonstrates your incredible versatility... I kinda love it too.. x

          • Fay Slimm.

Bless ya for kinda lovin' the topic I chose today Nev. and for seeing the benefits in dog-owning - - especially the elderly living alone need reasons for outings and I wanted to give that a mention...........x
