Thinking Back.

Goldfinch60

When we think back,

Think back of the life we have led

So many things are seen.

Those of which we are proud,

Those which we are not.

And then we see other things

Where the though comes to our mind,

 “I can’t believe that I did that”

When we did things

We thought we never could.

Remember though that is so much better

Than to look back on lifer and say,

“I wish that I did that”

That will leaving regrets within us.

So true Orchi, you should have waited for me in the The Battle Inn as I asked you so that I could have a watered down pint after the battle.

How quickly the future becomes the past... So many way to say Carpe Diem... this is bittersweet to us seniors... but today I rode my bike in a howling hurricane-induced storm just for the thrill and finished the day watching the little smudge of the comet though my binoculars as it vanishes more and more quickly every night... Seize the day!

      • Goldfinch60

So true jarcher54 and in my life there is a great deal of past but as I awake each morning I know the new day will always be a good one.

I think it's a question of coming to terms with our stage of life. Fortunately life's ups and down give us the wherewithall to accept our failings along side those things which are pleasing. I still get the creeps from some situations i put myself in or put my foot in. I get nightmares sometimes about a job i did for three years in my late twenties.

I wish this virus would get fixed so i can start a few new memories rather than watch repeats of 'last of the summer wine'

True d a we have the power at our age to come to terms with our lives, yes we have regrets but we are still here and each new day has new hope for us.

A wise write Andy - - thinking back to regrets can only bring negative pain - but recalling happy times endorses the positive.

            • Goldfinch60

Very true Fay, the happy times are always there for us.

regret will never remember me, so I too choose: to forget
travelling light, to that blank canvas of future possibility's: that await me

              • Goldfinch60

That blank canvas is there for you to fill with the wonder of new life L.B.

Very true. Regret not love wasted, but love unshared.

Oh so true, GF60. Many things to remember and many to try and forget.
Really liked your straight forward talk.
Does anyone ever achieve total satisfaction with how they lived their life? I think we all wonder what if.

I often think "I can't believe that I did that!" and sometimes the tone is good, sometimes not so much! But some day I will look back and regret very little?

                      • Goldfinch60

So true Melissa, the good always outweighs the bad.
