peacemaker

dusk arising

A man of peace
who stood before the guns
of urban terrorists
to achieve his goal.
A man who entered
the hearts of both sides
of conflict and sold his goal
of peace
when all around was
murder and revenge.
Years of bloodshed
now a stain in the memory
of a noble country
divided yet united
in his belief.
R.I.P.
John Hume
the peacemaker.

Someone said Revd Ian Paisley said once: 'I'm a man of peace; and if anyone disagrees with that, I'll punch them on the nose!' Doh!
