On the wall there was a broken clock
I sat in a room at the top of a tower
Taking sip of a drink both sharp and sour
Outside the moon continued to rise
Pulled up by one giant hand
Yet for a giant it held no power and behind another it would cower
I could hear the damp wooden steps outside creaking
And then every other step was shrieking
Not a worry though, the door was locked
With it's only key long gone
Someone outside must've thought they were sneaking but if people are rivers then they were leaking
But there was a knock, knock, knocking on my door
And it was unlike any I'd heard before
I looked through the peephole but didn't like what I saw
If I did nothing it'd be there, forevermore
So I put both my hands firmly on the door
All my strength and determination it bore
I was sure to keep out what I saw
It'd be stuck outside, forevermore
A chandelier was hanging from the ceiling
And from it there was golden pain peeling
It'd gathered some layers of dust
Even though I'd clean the room
From below it might have looked appealing however by now the screws were squealing
On the shelf was a flower with its roots drying
And petals fell as if it were crying
It stubbornly stood against a vase
Strong and unwilling to fall
It must've thought its will underlying but it was clear to me the flower was lying
But there was a knock, knock, knocking on my door
And it was unlike any I'd heard before
As the broken clock ticked then tocked
On the door was another thunderous knock
My heart was gripped with fear and shock
As the door opened despite the lock
"Don't take me yet, it's not my time"
But I was embraced beneath the clock
