Maybe Old but Not Daft

Neville

Maybe Old but Not Daft

He knew what

Her game was

He had seen it all before

The scanty two piece

The selfie, the pursing of lips

And the pouting

But under the circumstances

For him, trying to look interested

Was far easier said than done

After all, he was

An old man of the sea

And rarely spoke of nothing but

Harbours, of tides

Of jetties, the moon

And of marina’s and quays

But show him

A measure of sailcloth,

A rope makers awl, or an anchor

Then he be nobody’s fool, but a

Bloomin good fisher, a sailor, a husband

a father and friend through n through ..

Dame-games never sit well with disinterested sailors whose love of the sea cannot be shifted by pouting of lips on scanty-clad lasses - -- this read captures old sea-dogs to an absolute tee Nev.

The ocean draws many people to her.
My wife and I have both spent our entire lives close to it. Now that we are older we are more inland. My Lord it's at lest a ten minute drive. LOL We must go there often to restore our sanity. It's in the blood of those so afflicted.
This is a great tribute to one such person, who, so it seems, is a true sailor. Born of the sea and still in love with it. A great nurturer just like it. - Phil A.

Thanks so much Phil for visiting these words of mine and for sharing something of your own love for the sea.. We live close to the ocean too and visit often .. you are right about it being in the blood .. and salt by the way is my only real vice these days 🙂

              Great write ✍ Neville.

Well, life begins at 40. The best is yet to come in our lives after that.

Keep writing ✍ and safe during these challenging times.

The sea has the power to call us all, so much life to be remembered by the sea.
