The Place of Peace

italianwoman

In death there is peace.

In life there is pain.

To give up life

Is to freedom gain.

Free from my mind,

So dark and cold.

Free to let go,

To unleash the hold.

The hold of living

Which grips my chest,

Fights within me.

I need to rest.

To rest forever;

The stillness around.

Nothing to wake me,

While I’m underground.

We all have an idea of what we would like death to be like .. at the time of it I mean and also, ongoingly, after it has occurred ...

The vision you so poetically and otherwise eloquently shared with us here today is, I am sure not an uncommon one......

Thank you for posting and I sincerely wish you well my friend ..

That peace may well come to you in death but it is there in life as well, stay strong and move forward and one day that peace will be within you Celeste.

But it can also be very painful and dark and pressing.

The peace of death is a fantasy. Humans are not good at cost-benefit analysis when their emotions and feeling come into play. I am honored that you chose to share these thoughts. I have now read only 4 of your poems, posted over most of a year. They are painful, beautiful, and fierce. I look forward to many more.
