Tune: Richmond
('City of God, how broad and far')
John 11 v.38-44
**********
Gathered at Lazarus' tomb there
In sorrow they did share
Jesus said, "Take away the stone"
In spirit He did groan
Martah, Lazarus' sister said
"Lord, four days he be dead
By this time he will smell, decayed
In tomb he has been laid"
Jesus said, "Said I not to you
If you would believe true
You would see God's glory revealed
Not hidden, not concealed"
They moved the stone, Jesus eyes raised
To Father prayed and praised
Said, "Father I thank you, you hear
Me always, to me near"
But because of those which stand by
I said it, so that nigh
To them they may know you, believe
You sent me, no deceive
Then "Lazarus, come forth", He loud
Called out amid the crowd
And he that was dead came forth bound
Thanksgiving did resound
He with grave-clothes bound hands and feet
And in burial sheet
Face covered with napkin, made way
Out to the light of day
Jesus said to them, "Now him free
Loose him from grave-clothes, see
And let him go", this miracle
He showed there unto all

The Account of the Ressurection of Lazarus (4 days dead !) in the NT is amazing and it was prominent and was a further proof to everybody that Jesus was in fact the Son of GOD. Lazarus himself was a great WITNESS. Thanks for sharing !
Blessings to You & Your Wide-awake Woofer !
Spirit Love Brian - Angela & Smokey Cat ! ! !

Beats me how you christians get away with making up words and placing then as if from the mouth of jesus or god. Thou shalt create no brazen image...etc....
In certain other religions they'd stone you or something similar for this.
Meanwhile, christian or not, lets go get stoned.
Thanks dusk. Well, I admit it's not verbatim. He did not speak all the exact words of this poem that are in speech marks.
Your words are good but the message is so wrong in my life having now been freed of christianity.
