I was glad when they said to me

Let us go now, come, see

To the house of the LORD to praise

Him, and to worship raise

 

Our feet within your gates shall stand

Jerusalem the land

'Tis builded as a city strong

Compact all days along

 

There the tribes of the LORD they go

Up, for His laws to know

And to give thanks to Him, He dwells

In His Temple, each tells

 

There are the thrones of judgement set

They still are righteous yet

Pray for the peace of this city

Jerusalem it be

 

They shall prosper that do it love

And blessings from above

Shall come, peace be within its walls

The people trust, none falls

 

And prosperity be within

Its palaces, may sin

Not corrupt nor defile its place

God dwells there by His grace

 

For my companions sake I say

'Peace be in you today'

Because the house of God is there

Your good I seek for e'er
