Opening and Shutting Doors.

Goldfinch60

When we go through our lives

We pass through many doors,

Those doors led us on the path,

The path to where we are now.

But in our lives

We also open doors,

Open doors for others.

Most are there to show us,

Show us a way we may need to travel.

But then sometimes

We shut the doors,

Shut them on some people.

Is this right?

Or are we doing wrong?

Are we shutting doors on humanity?

  • Comment from author about the poem: The video of of Coope, Boyes and Simpson is of the very first song I had ever heard them sing and that was on a CD played in our church, it was also the very last song I heard them sing as Joyce and I saw them the only time live at their final concert before they broke up.

    Good write Gold.
Maybe it's only right to shut that door if you're Larry Grayson, or related to him?!
Aww, in my singing attempts, when one door opens, another one slams in my face. Why is that? lol.

No no no. In closing doors we are acknowledging the wisdom our experiences have led us to believe are genuine and trusted truth.
For example, closing the door on christianity having lived with and explored it in depth found it to be needy. Not a simple descision but a reasoned one it took time to come to terms with.

That is rightly so d a, some doors are needed to be shut, such as mine on christianity but if we shut doors on things that we have not experienced we may be doing the wrong thing. We need the experience to shut the right doors on our lives.

Yes OK, I those terms I agree. I know in my younger days I closed the door upon certain kinds of music, a series of decisions which were not well founded. Since then I have re-opened those doors.
I think we both raise valid viewpoints.

DOORS can be a Blessing or a Curse it all depends on the Sign & the Purpose ! They can say either VERBOTEN or WILLKOMMEN !

I relate to this mainly because I recognise my past actions in your words, I guess ultimately its a protective measure, 'I'll close my door first, before they close theirs on me'...
still, I doubt its healthy but then again we do what we must to survive, its a harsh reality we have to muddle through
