Angela here - Good Evening Uncle Andy - Brian & I love Scotland & all things Scots - specially the Tartan & the Skirl o* the Pipes. We too would love tae live on Skye - but the coomute to Work would not make it feasible ! I guess when you*re retired you could live antwhere ?

The Pipes! The Pipes!

The telephone rang,
I answered it.
The voice said
“Hello Andy, it’s Caroline here”.
She is one of the choir members
Who I know a little.
She asked the oddest question,
“Do you know any bagpipe players?”
What a strange question to ask me!
Yes, I love music, always have,
But the thing about bagpipes
Is I like to hear them play “Far Away”;
And the further away, the better!
It is said that the Irish invented the bagpipes and gave them to the Scots but the Scots have not seen the joke yet.
I love Glasgow. Spent much time at the school of art with my friend who was the director at the time. I was there while they were scrubbing the black soot-covered buildings to reveal the lovely warm red brick underneath. Loved Arbroath also. I forget the name of that marvelous victorian estate built by a man who trained local workers in the necessary craft. One day we visited an estate where the Pre-Rafielites spent their summers that was being restored by a wealthy American. We discovered Dante Rosetti's paintbox in a closet that had not been cleaned out yet. The artists had painted portraits of themselves on the walls by the stairs.

BRIAN HERE ~ Thanks TP for a lovely MEMORY . I thought the Building Pictured was a good University to house the *MA in Fantasy Studies* AMEN. We find a Poem (or a Picture or a piece of Music) on MPS often lifts the lid of the Memory Box for US as well !
