Amiable Anointing

Tune: England's Lane

('For the beauty of the earth')

Mark 14 v.3-9

**********

Jesus, He in Bethany

At house of Simon was, see

Sharing a meal, then did come

A woman, entered the home

Had box of precious ointment

Broke the box and it was rent

Poured it upon Jesus' head

Some were indignant instead

Said, Why waste of ointment made?

Could o'er ten months wages paid*

To sell it, to help the poor

Would not this be useful sure?

Jesus said, Let her now be

See has wrought good work on me

For you have the poor with you

Always, any time may do

Good to them, but me 'tis true

Have not always here with you

She has done what she could do

Has come beforehand, here view

To anoint my body now

For burial, it be how

She shows her love, thankfulness

All people shall hence her bless

For truly I to you say

What deed she has done this day

Shall be spoken of her, shared

How she my body prepared

Where'er gospel shall be preached

Memory of her ne'er impeached

---------

* A penny was one days wage, They said 'Could not this ointment

have been sold for over 300 pence (over 10 months wages)

and the money given to the poor?'

      Thanks Gold.

Love the way you re-write these fairy tales even though to do so would be regarded as sacrilege by many christians. What a mixed up confused religion christianity seems to be. No wonder it needs spicing up a bit with such re-writing as yours.

Thanks dusk. Well, I dunno. Hardly fairy tales, if we look into them. I don't remember labelling any as 'Fable'. Oops!

Ace fairy tale = adam and eve and genesis. The oldest fairy tale known to mankind closely followed by 'the cheques in the post'

ANGELA HERE - Thanks for sharing an excellent HYMN & A Wonderful True Story as are all in the BIBLE including the GENESIS account of the Creation of Man - AMEN !
The true account of the ALABASTER BOX teaches US all many lessons ! In their CREATION of Planet Earth - as a *Living Planet* - the TRINITY gave us their very very best (think of *Life on Mars*) so we should always give of our best back to the GODHEAD. The Anglican Cathedral in Liverpoon in Local Red Sandstone is a case in POINT ! We have an origional Painting of it on our Dining Room Wall. Church Jumble Sales indicate we are only prepared to *Give Our Rags to God*. We TITHE our Money for the Lords Work ! Does you Church teach Tithing ?

Blessings & Joy to You & Your Devout DOG FIDO
Spirit Love Angela - Brain & El Gato Ahumido 💛💛💛

Thanks B&A. Yes, one church taught tithing - and more! A second tithe - though we could not all comply, due to the fact we were not all millionaires. Doh! (I am a millionaire of course. lol). They got keen, passing round a second collection 'hat'!

            • ANGELA & BRIAN

BRIAN HERE ~ Good Evening Uncle Steve ~ We have touched on an interesting Subject here *TITHING*. The Bible teaches we should support the BODY of CHRIST (The Universal Christian Church on Earth) by giving of ourselves (SERVICE) and giving of our Substance (MONEY) The Bible teaches that we should give according to our MEANS which is the *Priciple of Tithing* i.e. 10% of what we earn nett = after Tax Deductions etc. So if Angela & I earn nett between us ÂŁY000 pounds per annum - we should set aside ÂŁ2Y each week for *The Lords Work* ~ OK The Scriptures say *Let every Man give as he decides in His Heart (not His Head) ~ Not Grudgingly - or of Necessity (A Special Fund to build a Car Park etc) but CHEERFULLY ! The LORD loves a cheerful GIVER ~ AMEN !

Blessing to You & Your Provident Pup
              Spirit Love A & B & El Gato 💛💛💛
