Hippie Am I.

Make love not war,

That was their mantra,

Those dishevelled

Long haired people,

So full of colour,

So full of love for all,

For all people,

For all animals,

For all the earth.

In my mind

I have become one,

I agree with their way.

I have so much love in me,

Love for all people,

Love for all animals,

Love for this earth.

So come and join me,

Become a hippie

And let us all do it,

Make love not war.

All you need is love. When they ridicule the idealist, the one who places the flower in the rifle barrel, who lies down before the tank, they make one with the Roman soldiers who hung the Rebel on the wooden cross among the thieves. They smirk, because they know not what they do. Thanks for the message today.

Thank you jarcher54, I always look at Jesus as the first hippie.

Well, I think old Socrates and some of his scruffier friends might have fit the mold too.

The Hippie culture is for peace, why cannot everyone share the peace that this world needs.

You growing your hair long then, even though we can get to the hairdressers these days now?!

          • Goldfinch60

No the long hair has gone, I was in two minds whether to leave it long though when the barbers had al closed.

            Brilliant sir...

and for what it’s worth, if I could endorse any poem I might read for a while, it might just probably be this one ...

            • Goldfinch60

Thank you for your very kind words Neville, much appreciated.

I must agree with the sentiment of this poem. Love is surely the answer. Yet in this warrior world we have created, people seem to be reaching out to strongman warlords. No wonder the world is becoming overheated.
GF60 if it becomes possible to return to the days of Hippies and free love I will line up for the first Love-in. Yes and some great music too. - Phil A.

              • Goldfinch60

Thank you Phil, yes love must be the answer.
You will have to be in the queue behind me for that Love-in.

You should watch the documentary of John Lennon! Imagine was written for Peace against the Vietnam War, the U.S. government, was trying to stop him, trying to revoke his write to stay in America! If course he fought it! Your words are RIght On!

                  • Goldfinch60

Thank you RB, yes John Lennon was all for peace in Vietnam but as you say the U.S Government seemed to have other ideas.
