lies to kill for

dusk arising

Beneath
his peasant moon
he marvelled at creation,
the reason for it all?

Haunted still,
he'd returned
to the place where blood
tainted every footfall
across a now barren valley
of death and vengence.

Here...  forgiveness
became poisoned
by the faith each
waring nation
lustfully instilled within
it's enthusiastic youth
to create righteous
murdering soldiers.

When...
from practiced lips
of long corrupt religion
had come the disgusting lie
"God be with you"

         Each wound

.                a gaping hole

.                        in mans religious fabrication

  • Comment from author about the poem: Those here who shun criticism of (any) organised religion may one day gain the courage to confront the dual standards and hypocracy it insults your integrity with. It will not make you any less spiritual for you are a part of whatever creation is all about.

So very true d a, we both know that organised religion is like politics and the organisers are only in it for their own benefit, yet we both have our own 'god' in our lives.

"May your god go with you"

You know i scoff at so many of the tenants of the christian religion but even their book tells that jesus said god is within you.
But powerful men got hold of a good idea and put a spin on it.... twisted it, and twisted it several times more over 2000 years. There are 2000 years history of the misdeeds of christianity but millions of people suffering from blindness to it's reality.

Yes, I agree, 'religion' is the cause of many troubles. I don't mean true Christianity, though that of course is one religion.
There are even Biblical wars, and both sides saying, 'God is on our side'.

Yep christianity is one religion. Gott mit uns was engraved into all Nazi daggers and SS belt buckles, they were blessed by the christian church. That same christian religion, the roman catholic part of the christian 'faith', refused to condemn the Nazi persecution of the jews.
Christianity is a man made creation based 'around' the life of Jesus soley for the purpose of controlling mankind. It is not the only religion created for that purpose but that does not make it any less a contrivance.

        • orchidee

It's people using religion for their own evil purposes, I would say. Even in Jesus' days, the trouble-makers were the 'religious' priests and scribes. One thing is sure - God's judgement and justice will be shown to be fair at the end of time. There are good churches and good people about though.

          • dusk arising

Yes Orchidee, just you say "It's people using religion for their own purposes" in this case it was the leaders of the christian churches including the R Catholic churches in U.K. Germany and Italy Using their religion to control people - exactly the job their religions (and yours) were created to do!
Your phrase "God's judgement and justice will be shown to be fair at the end of time" shows your belief in a man made myth... the only evidence to support your belief is the belief of others also indoctrinated and brainwashed into belief. The christian churches do have well intentioned individuals without doubt but they serve a corrupt and outdated organisation.

Yes so true D.A. - faith in dogma can poison forgiveness -- your powerful words outline the need for spirituality to take central stage now and for world-wide religious organisations to end their control.

I can be seen to 'go to town' in criticising organised religion now and again for the various reasons i post. This is partly because i am a spiritually aware and motivated individual but also because i feel my intelligence being insulted by the rhetorical preaching some feel necessary to create on MPS.

We are all spiritually capable beings in our own right without the need for indoctrination into confusing and contradictory religious education. From reading your posts I imagine you too are quite spiritually aware of the natural way of things around us and within us.

Thank you for your kind supportive comments.

This is not just a poem .. this is actually an exceptional piece of well worded literature in the guise of a poem ...

Not long ago.. you would have been burnt as a heretic ...

and I would have willingly stood by your side ...

Religion is a disease, responsible for more deaths and suffering than any of its peers .....

I think the human failings within All Religious establishments (not merely Christianity) have contributed to the worst horrors in humanity's history.
Even after the reformation, those same establishments choose to prioritise their power vacuums over the easily manipulated - uninformed minds of our society, instead of ridding their hierarchy's from the same hypocrisy their orthodox Dogma's were written to prevent.
At the same time, the bleak hollowness of existence exhumed from all faith - in anything, has had a big role in the degradation of collective morality within society.
So yes by all means, let us all write and bare naked the failings and trappings within zealot or blind faith, but please: remember to allow each other the space to have faith in something - as long it does not interfere with our personal way of life directly... Because not all of us have the strength to face some of the bleak aspects within existence without believing in something, that can give our lives a little meaning - however unscientific or far-fetched it may seem to the all-knowing eyes we so easily judge other's by...

I have very strong spiritual belief which i do not preach. I take exception to the bigotry of all the organised religions of which i have become aware (other than buddhism though i am not a buddhist). Seeing some writers on here displaying their need to post rhetorical religious garbage only spurs me on to point out just how worn out and unfit for purpose their worship is. Thank you for reading and making such considered comment.
