Stay

down the rabbithole

I feel like my heart is covered in stitches

They are messy and black and make my heart ugly

They hold it together after all the times it has been hurt

I feel your heart is saying goodbye

I can’t hear it, so I turn away so all I can feel is your breath on my neck

I pretend it is saying ‘I’ll stay’

But I worry it is goodbye

As the stitches are coming loose

And all my pain is pouring out all over me

And I don’t know who I am anymore

I worry without you I can not stitch anymore pain in and it will just live with me like a shadow I can’t leave

Maybe it’s because I have your pain too now, the pain I gave you from my ugly stitched heart

One day may the right person come along and mend all those stitches in your heart and love will blossom.
