Tune: Cruger

('Hail to the Lord's Anointed')

Isaiah 40 v.28-31

********

Have you not known? Have not heard?

That this true be the word

That the God everlasting

Creator of each thing

Faints not, neither is weary

And there no searching be

Of His understanding, for

It infinite for sure

He gives power to the weak

His help to lowly, meek

To them that have no might He

Increases strength, so be

Even the young people, they

Shall faint, fall in their day

But they that wait on the LORD

Shall know truth of His word

For they that do on Him wait

Shall renew their strength great

They shall mount up as with wings

As of eagles, each sings

They shall run, not be weary

Shall trust confidently

They shall walk, and they not faint

Each one in Christ, each saint

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 7.6.7.6. 7.6.7.6. metre. I don't usually write three poems from one Bible Chapter, but it happens sometimes. Depends sometimes if it's a long Chapter or not. It's a sort of 'active waiting' in faith, not as if idly waiting around for a No.7 bus!

It is 'faintless' not 'faithless' in the title.

    'Shall renew their strength great

They shall run, not be weary
    Shall trust confidently'
liked this little gem, almost a standalone stanza in its own right,
reads like a song of hope for tomorrow's youth

Thanks LB. There's overlap at times (as said below) of literal and symbolic. I didn't get the hang of it - I therefore tried to fly, but crashed with me giant plastic wings! Call me El Birdman! lol.

Thanks B&A. Yes, Isaiah is sometimes cryptic. There's overlap at times of literal and symbolic, I think.

Isaiah is a long book in the bible it could go onto to many more poems.

Thanks Gold. Yes, I admit I am picking out the 'good bits'. I suppose the gloomy bits wouldn't be sung, but they could be 'said' poems. Me series is ongoing.
