a colour of magic

siranswerer

i tried to find a word that describes her eyes.
i thought of sapphire, and azure.
i thought of steel, and cobalt,
the polar ocean, the deepest sky,
but out of all things, birds, flowers, jewels.
none worked.
when there are no words to describe something,
a poet might try to give the reader an impression,
instead of stating the obvious.
she said she was different, from her family.
they thought her a changeling,
a gift from the fairies.
well, those are my words,
being an Irishman, well versed in mythology.
which made me think.
of a realm beyond our own.
and that must be,
where this fake girl,
is from.

That realm from beyond fills your mind with dreams and dreams can come true.
