Practising And Preaching

Tune: Camberwell

(one tune to: 'At the name of Jesus')

Colossians 3 v.12-17

**********

Put on, as God's chosen

People, you each one

Holy and beloved you

Tender mercies too

With kindness, humbleness

To each forgiveness

Meekness, longsuffering

And each Christ-like thing

Forbear one another

Sister and brother

If quarrel, disagree

let forgiveness be

Shown, as Christ forgave you

This the standard true

So forgive in same way

Children of light, day

And above these things all

Put on love, not fall

It bond of perfectness

Here each other bless

Let the peace of God rule

In your hearts in full

To this you are called, show

Christ's peace here below

Called in one body we

Let us thankful be

Let word of Christ indwell

You, His wisdom tell

Teaching, admonishing

One another, bring

Psalms, hymns, spiritual songs

Join the worship throngs

Sing with grace in your hearts

Each one take your parts

Sing to the Lord, and what

You do in life's lot

In word or deed do all

In the Lord's name, call

On Him, Jesus, thanks give

To God who e'er lives

Are you ready to hear the C of E statement about its rampant peodophilia and cover up. Is it an excuse to ''say was not me guv' and still support this corrupt organisation?

I thought that was the ....................involved in unsnpeakable things. I best not say which (denomination).

No, it is the church of england, the anglican church, having to face up to a history of knowing about its peadophile activities and providing a hiding place for the offenders and their offences. Typical of the dual standards and hypocracy with all the churches of christianity.... but that is no excuse.

There's nothing wrong with the drums, in our Church we sometimes have a group next to the Choir, and in that choir I stand next to the drums, that again is no problem as he is a very good drummer.

Thanks Gold. Maybe some 'fogies' had a rant, thinking it spoilt a 'traditional' hymn.

The Little Drummer Boy had one and made a very nice tribute: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT1fA59oH7Q

I quite like drums and drummers and whilst the guy in the clip aint bad, I think the hymn in question may have sounded better without them on this occasion ....

I am a great believer in folk practicing what they preach though ..

Thanks Neville. Yep, that's what they were ranting about - drums not preferred for this hymn!
Yes, no use I suppose, spouting off, being 'all talk and no do!'
I wish I would 'do', and not waffle on for ages, of whether it's 'practising' or 'practicing'? Hmm.
