We look for it all the time,
Happiness is like a butterfly,
When we see it just in front of us
So wonderful and appealing,
But when we reach out for it,
It is just out of reach.
Try as we might it cannot be captured,
Yet when we rest in the quiet in our lives
Happiness, like the butterfly
May land upon us,
And fill our lives with wonder.

Good write Gold. Just don't get me started on Ken Dodd's 'Happiness'. Of course he was happy defrauding, etc, while WE were paying.

And sometimes we don't know we have it till we see it fly away! Which reminds me I saw the most amazing butterfly yesterday right by my front door and it's very late in the season... I think it was Jay's soul.

Very interesting content in your work today Mr Goldfinch and I'm going to give you my take on happiness and out of reach.
For all of us there are things which make us happy and have made us happy and these mix with that which brings us sadness in the moment and in the past..... it can all be there more or less at the same time. Joy at seeing someones mirth can be felt at the same time as feeling sadness for someone we know or have known who cannot see what we see or be able to take part in such mirthful activity.
So for me, I focus upon what has brought me happiness and hold it in my demeanor, I smile a lot. I am happy knowing that the sadness I carry is at the back of my mind, easily accessible behind a door ajar and does not darken my outlook.
I think you have a similar way about you for it would be hard for you to be such a positive individual otherwise. I hope so.
You are so right d a, that sadness is there at the back of my mind, it sometime come to the fore but the happiness in my life always comes to the for. Even with the sad moment of my life recently the happiness Joyce and I had together always outweighs that sadness and I go forward looking for the good in life knowing that happiness will always be there for me.

I really like this poem. This is the story of alot of people's lives. At the moment, but for a short while, it is a chapter of mine. Without even thinking it, I know that my butterfly will land right next to me.
