Lunch at My House

Lorna

My salad spinner

Took off on me today

Flew across the kitchen

Smashed into a tray

Brought dishes down

As it flew by

But the lettuce is dry

an apt metaphor for so much about life, reminds me of the opening stanza to Sylvia Plath's poem 'Cut':
    'What a thrill -
My thumb instead of an onion.
    The top quite gone
Except for a sort of hinge'

Perfect timing for me and brought back memories of kid... Spinning it so fast and throwing anything on, to watch it fly off!

      Really appreciated!
      Gave me a chuckle x

Lorna -That was a "Little Gem" - a popular variety of lettuce grown by gardeners in UK! I grow them in my grenhouse but mine stay put in their pots.
