Affectionate Attention

Tune: Dominus Regit Me

('The King of love my Shepherd is')

Philippians 1 v.8-11

**********

God is my witness, how greatly

I long after you all, see

Paul says to the Philippians

His care and comfort they sense

It is with Christ's affection, so

He prays that their love may grow

May so abound more and more in

Knowledge and judgement therein

That they may approve things that are

Excellent, from evil far

That they may be sincere, without

Offence till Christ returns, no doubt

That they be filled with the fruits sure

Of righteousness, whole and pure

Which are by Jesus Christ unto

Glory and praise of God anew
