Tune: Franconia
('Blest are the pure in heart')
Isaiah 42 v.1-4
*********
Behold, my servant, I
Am always Him close by
Christ my Son He be, my chosen
One, to do my will then
In Him my soul delights
He e'er is in my sight
I have put my spirit upon
Him, yes my chosen one
He shall bring forth justice
Shall not cry out, true this
Nor raise His voice, nor shouting loud
Not be boastful or proud
A bruised reed shall He not
Break, but shall save its lot
A smoking flax, dimly burning
He shall not quench, but bring
Bring forth justice, judgement
My Son from heaven sent
Shall not be discouraged nor fail
Judgement, truth shall prevail

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.8.6. metre. Comfort for if you feel you are about to be snapped off as a bruised reed, or snuffed out as a smoking flax.

Good one Orchi.
No six eh? I warned you that Isaiah was a long book in the bible.
Andy
Thanks Gold. Yes - have written some in advance too. lol. I am up to 26 now, maybe nearing the end. See you tomorrow at the Battle Inn. We are both over age 954!
I consider myself more a smoking flax than a bruised reed ..
I guess if ya gonna have a servant, tis best to have a sincere one ...
Its not often ya come across the word flax today but believe it or not, I was tempted to post one with it in both the title and the text .....
Am seriously glad you used large text today as I have been struggling to read a lot of stuff recently ... and it aint got nuthin to do with the fact one Isaiah than the other ................................................... .......... Neville
Thanks Neville. I was gonna be flax (whatever is it exactly) and be smoking hot - but Fido said no! lol. I dunno what rhymes with 'flax' either, so I didn't put it at the end of a line. Saves me having to rhyme it. Ahhh - Eyes-higher. lol.
your writes are always so inspiring steve, keeps me positive in most instances. blessings melissa crown
Thanks Melissa.

Thanks B&A. Yes, I like GK. I don't like some 'modern' ones that repeat over and over, and drive ya nuts! Then again, I quite like Taize.
