The smell of morning coffee
Is still fresh on your lips.
The scarf you gave me
Keeps my throat warm.
Each breath you exhale
Finds sanctuary in my chest.
Each step I take
Moves the sand under your feet.
Old kisses and spent tears
Still wet on our skin.
Your fingertips remind my palm
Of every word spoken,
And those yet to be said.
The clouds watching us
Open a window
Into a room full of mirrors,
Where abandoned longings
And long hidden feelings
Wait to be rescued.
Every day erases all days,
And dreams fly free
In search of a new master.
The waves seem to chant:
Your Love is old!
While the gleam in your eyes answers:
Yes, but it gets younger every day.
