Luminous Light

orchidee

Tune: Laudes Domini

('When morning gilds the skies')

***********

Jesus, you be the Light

Of the world, banish night

You reveal to our sight

Your plan of salvation

For folk of each nation

Whate'er class or station

If natural light be less

Yet you do still us bless

Your goodness we confess

Equinox and solstice

The year's cycles is this

Help us not waste or miss

Not miss times to serve you

In things done, old or new

And give you praises due

Growing in Christ-likeness

In love, in humbleness

You Son of God no less

Light revealed, show the way

For us to take each day

May we continue, pray

Path ever shining bright

Unto land of delight

Where all is holy, right

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.6. 6.6.6. metre. Somehow I wanted to fit in 'equinox and solstice' into this.
