Thoughts of a survivor

TheLonelyPoet90

There was a man,

Who did me wrong.

In the most awful way you could imagine,

I kept quiet for so long.

I kept quiet until I broke,

To the point I felt like I didn't matter.

Then I finally spoke,

Of all the things that happened.

He denied all allegations,

Through fear of losing all he held dear.

Instead it was me who lost all relations,

As he had the wrapped around his fingers.

Now I have bad days,

Where the wirld seems so dark.

I also have good days,

Where a glimmer of hope sparks.

In the end of my story,

I'm in this battle alone.

Like dancing, steps forward and backwards,

Small steps until I'm completely grown.

I may never fully recover,

From my trust being broken.

It's time I rediscover,

Who I am beyond this.

I am not a victim,

Of a crime so disturbed,

But a survivor!

You may feel alone in the little world that includes the perpetrator, but you are not alone in the larger world. There is no more powerful title than survivor. I for one am impressed by your confidence and eloquence.

Thank you for your kind words, I haven't much of those lately

You will be stronger each day you move forward helped by the words that you are writing.

Thank you, I try each and every day to move forward and be a stronger person than I was. It's an uphill battle and I may fall but I will continue to climb until I reach the top. Your words are so kind and I'm grateful for them.

wonderfully impowering, we curate ourselves into what we want to believe of ourselves, and your words voice a soul determined to utilise the limited time in life and avoid becoming another digit in the annals of surrender, good write:
'In the end of my story,
        I'm in this battle alone.
Like dancing, steps forward and backwards,
Small steps until I'm completely grown.'
(a gentle heads-up that I noticed a few unorthodoxly spelt words, if this was on purpose by design of your creative licence then all good, sorry to mention it)

Thank you! I'm grateful for the time you have taken to read my part of my story. I'm thankful of your kind words. Could you possibly point out which words you are speaking of?

            1) As he had 'the' wrapped

            2) Where the 'wirld' seems so dark.

just a last note, really like your poet's comment section, owning the phrase: 'it's a fraction of my life',
indeed, that is a great way to help yourself picture the magnitude of life that still awaits you and that's worth fighting for!
