Tune: Deus Tuorum Militum
('Awake, awake, fling off the night')
Isaiah 51 v.9-16 parts
********
Awake, awake, arm of the LORD
Show strength of your powerful word
Was it not you, your people led
Through Red Sea, with you at their head?
Therefore the redeemed of the LORD
Shall return and come, it assured
Come with singing to Zion's land
All safe, guided by God's good hand
And everlasting joy shall be
Upon their heads comfortingly
They shall obtain joy and gladness
The LORD shall help them and them bless
And sorrow and mourning shall flee
Away, nor shall there sighing be
The LORD is He who them comforts
Fear not man, he be of small sorts
Forget me not, I Creator
have made heavens and earth, 'tis sure
Though oppressed and captive you were
Redemption I on you confer
I have given to you my words
You opened ears and heave them heard
Covered in shadow of my hand
I bring you back to Zion's land
